1933年に開業した脇ノ沢駅は、78年間にわたり地域の拠点として機能してきました。しかし、昭和35年5月のチリ地震津波と平成23年3月の東日本大震災と二度にわたる津波災害を受け、最終的には東日本大震災で仮設駅舎やホーム等が壊滅的な被害を受け脇ノ沢駅は姿を消しました。
Wakinasawa Station, which opened in 1933, served as a community hub for 78 years. However, it disappeared after suffering devastating damage from two tsunamis: the Chilean earthquake tsunami in May of Showa 35 (1960) and the Great East Japan Earthquake in March of Heisei 23 (2011). Ultimately, the temporary station building and platforms were destroyed by the Great East Japan Earthquake, leading to the closure of Wakinasawa Station.
