蛇ヶ崎(じゃがさき)の伝説について地元で言い伝えられている話には、吹きすさぶ嵐の時に箱根山に住んでいたオロチ(大蛇)が隣りの部落の門の浜に降りてきたので、部落総出で弓やら刀を持って退治しようとしてオロチを追い掛けたがオロチは門の浜から海に飛び込み、難を逃れて上がって来た地が蛇ヶ崎と呼ばれる様になったと言われています。また、もう一説によりますと蛇ヶ崎の地名の由来は、大蛇が海に躍りこむ形に似ている所から付けられたとも語られ、その他にも侍と漁師の娘との悲恋物語伝説等もある場所です。
