以前の高田松原は「立神浜」(たちがみはま)と呼ばれ、不毛の地で、潮風が絶えず吹き付け砂浜の砂塵が巻き上げられ、作物などに甚大な被害を与えたので、寛文6年頃と言うと今から約350年前に砂防林として松の植え付けが始まったみたいです。
